We are thrilled to announce a new structured curriculum coming soon to Lakou. This program will provide participants with the tools they need to build stronger foundations, withstanding some of the most powerful earthquakes.

Ken Biddington, a Canadian native, is working closely with Lakou to write the official curriculum for year one of our Construction Training Program. Ken brings with him over a decade of experience in teaching adult education, a background in construction, and a long history of serving Haiti. His fluency in French will be beneficial in training Haitian teachers, who will then teach proper trade practices, such as math and safety procedures to program participants.

Ken explains why he believes in Lakou's mission. “Lakou is not only helping people. It’s saving lives. It’s not a matter of if Haiti will experience another earthquake. It’s a matter of when.” With Lakou's help, Haitians can learn how to properly construct concrete structures that can resist hurricane force winds and earthquakes.

Lakou plans to expand training services to include younger adults and provide graduation certificates of achievement upon completion. This is a huge step in the right direction towards preserving Haiti’s future.

Ken is working with Lakou to provide participants with the tools they need to build a safe and secure environment for all!
