Construction Education and Training
Lakou values education as the starting point for all development. Participants in Lakou’s programming learn through both on-the-job and classroom training to develop in their trade. In addition to this practical training, participants also engage in life-skills and leadership development.
Job Creation
In Haiti, while many young adults may have the opportunity to learn a trade, there are often no opportunities for employment. Lakou has launched a social enterprise, the International Guild SA, in which participants not only get a chance to use the skills they’ve learned in training but have an opportunity to make money that they can take home to make financial choices with their families.
Community Engagement
Lakou recognizes community involvement as the heart that sustains real progress. We believe in investing in families, leadership, and giving back to our greater communities. These beliefs are reflected in the ways in which we collaboratively build our organization, collectively celebrate successes, and engage in community service.
