Randy Meyer: Construction Can Make Change In Haiti

Lakou’s efforts are focused on development, not humanitarian aid. We look to help people in their own efforts to lift themselves out of poverty and develop themselves and their country further. Our training program at Lakou is built to impact the construction system in Haiti and create jobs. There is dignity in work, a sense of purpose in employment, and pride in success. Unfortunately, Haiti has become heavily dependent on humanitarian aid and charity, and this has put development at risk.

Lakou does not want to wait for another life-altering earthquake or major event to stand by Haiti. We are calling out to our supporters, industry leaders, and game changers to stand with Haiti everyday by helping to educate and employ Haitians so they can fortify their future. This is how true change is made. Construction is our weapon of choice; to fight poverty and to save lives during natural disasters. We are calling for official construction standards in Haiti, better job opportunities through construction projects and training, and a voice of advocacy for the Haitian people.

Thanks for all you do!
